Tiles are one of our most commonly used decoration materials and one of the essential materials. But for the classification of ceramic tiles, where should they be used? Which tiles are the best? There are still many friends who can’t tell the difference, so today I’m going to tell you about ceramic tiles.
Tile classification
1. According to ceramic tile production technology and characteristics
Types of ceramic tiles can be divided into glazed tiles, full-body tiles, polished tiles, vitrified tiles and mosaics according to their production technology and characteristics. Of course, ceramic tiles with different characteristics have their own best uses. If you have enough knowledge about ceramic tiles, you can be targeted when decorating your home and make the best use of them.
1. Full-body bricks: The surface of full-body bricks is not glazed, and the material and color of the front and back sides are the same, hence the name. Full-body tiles are more wear-resistant, but their designs and colors are not as good as glazed tiles. Classification is divided into anti-skid tiles, polished tiles and seepage tiles. Scope of application: It is widely used on floors such as halls, corridors and outdoor walkways, and is generally less used on walls.
2. Glazed bricks:Glazed bricks are bricks whose surface has been glazed. Generally speaking, glazed tiles have richer colors and patterns than polished tiles, and they also play an anti-fouling role. However, because the surface of glazed tiles is glaze, its wear resistance is not as good as polished tiles. Classification is divided into ceramic glazed tiles and porcelain glazed tiles according to raw materials. According to different gloss, it is divided into two types: matt and bright. Scope of application: Bright glazed tiles should be used in the kitchen. Matt glazed tiles should not be used because oil stains penetrate into the tile surface and are difficult to clean. Glazed tiles are also suitable for bathroom balconies, etc.
3. Polished tiles:Polished tiles are bricks that have been polished and polished. Compared with the rough surface of full-body tiles, polished tiles are much smoother. This kind of brick has high hardness and is very wear-resistant. Based on the application of infiltration technology, polished tiles can produce various imitation stone and imitation wood effects. Classification can be divided into infiltration type polishing tiles, micro-powder type polishing tiles, multi-tube fabric polishing tiles, and microcrystalline stone. The scope of application can be used in most other indoor spaces except bathrooms and kitchens.
4. Vitrified tiles: Vitrified tiles are made of quartz sand and mud fired in a certain proportion, and then polished and brightened but do not need to bePolished, the surface is as smooth and translucent as a glass mirror, and is the hardest of all ceramic tiles. Vitrified tiles are superior to ordinary glazed tiles, polished tiles and general marble in terms of water absorption, edge straightness, bending strength, acid and alkali resistance, etc. But vitrified tiles are not perfect. Its defect is that after polishing, the pores are exposed, and dust, oil, etc. can easily penetrate. The classification is mainly floor tiles. It is a kind of polished tile. Scope of application Vitrified tiles are suitable for living rooms, bedrooms, walkways, etc.
4. Vitrified tiles: Vitrified tiles are made of quartz sand and mud fired in a certain proportion, and then polished and brightened but do not need to be polished. The surface is as smooth and translucent as a glass mirror. It is the hardest of all ceramic tiles.
3. According to the water absorption rate of ceramic tiles
According to the water absorption rate of ceramic tiles, they are divided into three main types:
1. Ceramic: refers to ceramic products with a water absorption rate of ≥ 6%, mainly used for wall decoration.
2. Half ceramic and half porcelain: refers to ceramic products with a water absorption rate of ≥3% and <6%.
3. All-ceramic: refers to ceramic products with a water absorption rate of less than 3%, which can be widely used for wall and floor decoration.
4. According to the usage occasions of ceramic tiles
It can be divided into the following types according to different use occasions:
1. Interior wall tiles: ceramic materials used on interior walls.
2. Floor tiles: ceramic products used on the floor.
3. Exterior wall tiles: ceramic materials used for building exterior walls and balconies.
4. Square tiles: Ceramic products used in large outdoor squares and sidewalks.
Of course, this classification method is not complete. For example, vitrified tiles can be used as floor tiles, interior walls, and even exterior walls. However, glazed interior wall tiles are not suitable for use on the ground, mainly due to their poor wear resistance. Difference.
5. Radioactive classification according to ceramic tiles
According to the radioactivity of ceramic tiles, they can be divided into A, B, C, etc.
1. Grade A: The scope of use of Grade A is not restricted and can be used in various places of home decoration. Therefore, the environmental performance of indoor floor tiles must meet Class A standards. The national standard for the radioactivity of ceramic tiles is: GB6566-2001. Class A decoration materials are classified as Class A decoration materials if the radioactive specific activity of the natural radionuclides radium-226, thorium-232, and potassium-40 simultaneously meets the requirements of IRa≤1.0 and Ir≤1.3.
2. Class B: Class B decoration materials that do not meet the requirements of Class A decoration materials but meet the requirements of IRa ≤ 1.3 and Ir ≤ 1.9 are Class B decoration materials. Class B decoration materials cannot be used for the interior cladding of Class I civil buildings, but can be used for the exterior cladding of Class I civil buildings and the interior and exterior cladding of all other buildings.
3. Class C: Class C decoration materials that do not meet the requirements of Class A and Class B decoration materials but meet the requirements of Ir ≤ 2.8 are Class C decoration materials. Class C decoration materials can only be used for exterior finishes of buildings and other outdoor uses. Granite with Ir>2.8 can only be used in places rarely touched by humans, such as monuments, seawalls, and bridge piers.
6. According to the quality of ceramic tiles
Ceramic tiles can be divided into two levels according to the grades stipulated in national standards: 1. Excellent, 2. First-class. Premium products are the best grade, while first-class products refer to products with minor flaws.
There is also a grade classification of ceramic tiles: 1. Grade A products, 2. Grade B products. Grade A products are the best grade. Grade A products are divided into grade AAA, grade AA and grade A. Grade AAA is the best grade. Grade B products are products with minor flaws.
7. According to ceramic tile shaping
According to the classification of ceramic tile molding, ceramic tiles can be divided into dry-pressed molded bricks, extruded molded bricks and plastic molded bricks.
8. Firing ingredients according to ceramic tiles
Ceramic tiles can be classified into oxidizing tiles and reducing tiles according to their firing composition.
9. Apply glaze according to ceramic tiles
Ceramic tiles need to be glazed. According to the amount of glazing, ceramic tiles can be divided into glazed tiles and unglazed tiles.
